Adam Gibson (born 30 October 1986) is an Australian professional basketball player who currently plays for the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League (NBL). He has twice played on NBL championship teams, in 2007 for the Brisbane Bullets, and in 2009 for South Dragons. Gibson was a member of the Australian Boomers at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, helping the Boomers to a seventh placed finish with a 3-3 record. ==Professional career== Gibson attended the Australian Institute of Sport from 2004 to 2005〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.ausport.gov.au/ais/sports/basketball/achievements/australian_representative_history )〕 and made his debut with the Brisbane Bullets in September 2005, establishing himself as one of the best young Australian talents in the NBL. He played 29 games in his first season, averaging just 3 points and 1.1 assists per game. In his second season with the Bullets, Gibson went on to win the NBL championship when they defeated the Melbourne Tigers three games to one 2006–07 NBL season grand final series. While Gibson averaged just 6 points over the season, the grand final series saw an increase to 8.5 points. He stayed with the defending champions for the 2007–08 season, where their run was eventually halted in the semi-finals. Following the season, Gibson was released from his contract on 29 May 2008 at his own request, following which he was signed by the South Dragons.〔(Bullets releasing players in fear of worst )〕 Gibson quickly became the Dragons starting point guard. In his first season in Melbourne, Gibson won his second NBL championship, again at the expense of the Melbourne Tigers. Adam Gibson was rewarded for his general play for the Dragons when he was selected to the All-NBL Third Team and was also voted the NBL's Best Defensive Player for 2009. Unfortunately for Gibson and the rest of the South Dragons, the club folded following their championship win. Gibson then signed with the Gold Coast Blaze for the 2009–10 NBL season. Following the 2010–11 NBL season which saw the Blaze just miss a playoff berth with a 13–15 record, Gibson has become a free agent although due to NBL rules, no other NBL club can contact Gibson until two weeks after the Grand Final series has finished (unless agreed to by the Blaze), although the Blaze themselves are free during that time to re-negotiate his contract in a bid to re-sign him. Gibson's form with the Blaze during the 2010–11 season saw him selected to the All NBL Second team. In July 2012, following the collapse of the Gold Coast Blaze, Gibson signed with the Adelaide 36ers for the 2012–13 NBL season.〔(Adam Gibson locked into Adelaide 36ers roster for 2012/13 season )〕〔(Adam Gibson signs with the 36ers )〕 Gibson joined Adelaide along with Blaze team mates Jason Cadee and Anthony Petrie. On 15 March 2013, Gibson played his 250th NBL game.〔(Gibson to celebrate 250 games )〕〔(R23 Report: Taipans hang tough, outlast 36ers )〕 On 7 May 2013, Gibson re-signed with the 36ers on a two-year deal.〔(Gibson stays with 36ers ) 〕 During the 2013 off-season, Gibson played for the Forestville Eagles of the Central ABL. The Eagles went on to win the 2013 championship, with Gibson recording 24 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists in the grand final. On 2 November 2014, Gibson scored a career-high 34 points in a 93-86 win over the New Zealand Breakers. Along with 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 6 steals, he was named to the Player of the Week for Round 4.〔(R4 Player of the Week: Adam Gibson )〕〔(36er Gibson rewarded for career-high figures )〕 On 4 January 2015, he played his 300th NBL game, recording 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in a loss to the New Zealand Breakers.〔(R13 Report: Breakers dent 36ers' playoff hopes )〕〔(R13 Preview: Gibson looks for 36ers statement in 300th )〕 On 25 June 2015, Gibson re-signed with the 36ers for the 2015–16 season.〔(WATCH: #TenNews can reveal skipper Adam... )〕〔(Gibbo Back For 2015/16 Season )〕 In 313 NBL games, Gibson has averaged 10.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
